Helena Golden, also known as the Willow Woman, is a talented basket maker located in Leitrim Village, Ireland. Her work is inspired by the natural beauty of her idyllic surroundings and the ancient craft of basket making. With over 10 years of experience, Helena has developed a range of products that are not only stunning but also sustainable. She creates hand-woven baskets and unique homeware items using her very own sustainably grown willow. Helena grows 6 different varieties of willow.
Helena’s love for basket making began as a recreational activity, but quickly turned into a passion. She found herself drawn to the ancient craft and was fascinated by the intricacies of basket weaving. With her master’s degree in communications, she decided to combine her skills and passion and started offering basket weaving courses.
Helena’s workshops, both online and in-person, are designed to give participants the skills to weave their own practical and decorative home-ware items. These items range from bread baskets and blackberry baskets to bird feeders, garden obelisks, and plant pots.
